Born and raised in Bellingham, Washington, Gerard had two major passions: music and paintball. When he wasn’t rocking stadiums in drumlines or rock bands, he was in the muddy battlefields of GoBig Paintball park, aiming down the barrel of a camera.
At 19, he pursued a career in music production and audio engineering with a dream of performing guitar on stage. He interned at recording studios and freelanced as an audio engineer while shredding solos in rock bands on both the grimy and glamorous stages of Seattle.
Then Covid happened, so Gerard pivoted to video production.

He began filming paintball games in Snohomish County Washington. There, he combined his audio and video skills to build "Rated 'PB' For Everyone", a multimedia sports outlet that covered the tournament paintball series of the Pacific Northwest. His grassroots project led to sponsorship deals with his podcasts, paid gigs for covering local tournaments, and helping to build the local paintball scene.

UNC Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media recognized Gerard’s work and invited him to enroll. In 2022, he sold his belongings and moved across the country to study documentary film.

Within a year of his enrollment, he co-produced "Heart and Sol", a gripping short-documentary that follows the solar revolution of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. The film was recognized by the most prestigious awards in collegiate video journalism and contributed to winning a gold medal at the Anthem Awards for the Hussman School of Journalism.

Gerard's follow-up film "The Trumpet Monk" and his collegiate swan song "Bullring" exemplify his commitment to excellence in the craft of cinematic documentary storytelling. Both were recognized by the Hearst Awards, while "Bullring" earned a spot in the top 5 short documentaries at the 79th International College Photographer of the Year awards.

After graduation, he joined Alex & Leila Hormozi's media team to apply his documentary filmmaking abilities to create a docu-series following the CEO in building a $1 Billion business.
